How we work

Editorial Policy

This page explains how the Texas DMV Appointment Team chooses topics, checks facts, keeps pages current and fixes mistakes. It applies to every guide, tool and image on this site.

Our principles

Accuracy firstA fact goes on a page only when an official source states it.
Original writingEvery page is written fresh. We do not copy or rephrase other guide sites.
Plain languageShort sentences, clear steps and tools that work on any phone.
IndependenceWe are not part of any agency, and ads never shape what we write.
Dated reviewsEach page shows the month it was last reviewed.
Local detailCity pages are written from real local office data, not copied text.

Where our facts come from

We rank sources by how close they are to the rule itself and use the highest one available:

  1. PrimaryOfficial agency pages: Texas DPS, TxDMV and Texas.gov, including fee lists, forms and handbooks.
  2. LocalCounty tax assessor-collector websites for office locations, hours and local rules.
  3. LawTexas statutes and administrative rules when we need the exact legal wording.
  4. NeverForums, social media posts or other guide sites as the source of a fact.

Each page names the official sites it was checked against in its review line. Where official sources disagree or are unclear, we say so or leave the detail out.

How a page is made and kept current

STEP 1ResearchRead the current official pages for the topic.
STEP 2WriteTurn the rules into plain steps, tables and tools.
STEP 3CheckCompare every fee, date and rule with its source.
STEP 4ReviewRecheck pages over time and update the review date.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it as soon as we have confirmed the correct information with an official source. When a fact changes, such as a new fee, we update the page and its review date.

Readers can report a problem at any time through our contact page for corrections and questions. Please include the page link and, if possible, the official source.

Advertising and independence

This site is free to read and is supported by ads served through Google AdSense. Ads are labeled by Google and are never part of our guide content.

Advertisers do not choose our topics or review our pages, and we do not accept payment to recommend any company or service. Official links on our pages go to government sites because that is where you complete the task.
